Flaming
Flaming of stone is restricted mainly to granites. A very hot ox propane flame is passed from side to side over the surface of the stone as it moves on a conveyer belt. This shatters some crystals, leaving a granular non-slip surface. The flame also oxidizes iron in the stone, turning it red. The color is subdued and may have distinctive red tints.
